What is invisible at first glance can be decisive at second: drainage systems along railway lines—longitudinal canals, transverse passages, and intake shafts—ensure that rainwater is drained away from the track bed quickly and in a controlled manner. Clogged or defective channels allow water to penetrate the ballast, softening the substructure and endangering the track layout. Klefenz offers systematic inspection of these systems as an independent service—on DB lines, branch lines, and industrial facilities.
The inspection is carried out using camera trolleys designed for the confined dimensions of track channels. Each inspected section is documented on video, and damage is assessed according to DB classification and recorded in a structured report. Parallel to the camera inspection, detected deposits and roots are immediately removed via high-pressure flushing—eliminating the need for separate follow-up measures.
Klefenz recommends regular sewer inspection as part of line maintenance. Carried out annually, it enables targeted repair planning rather than expensive emergency measures following damage that has already occurred. The Klefenz damage report is structured so that it can be fed directly into the DB's internal maintenance planning systems.

At Klefenz, sewer inspection is not an isolated task—it is closely integrated with track construction. Drainage systems are often checked during sleeper replacements and track maintenance to minimize costs for the client.
